The Green Deal

The House of Commons Library published a report on “The Green Deal”.  The document is intended to Members of Parliament to support their parliamentary duties. However, we think the text provides a clear and comprehensive guide to STA members. The guide can be accessed here.

Electricity Market Reform

DETI have released a study entitled Electricity Market Reform – Analysis of Policy Options’ .  149 pages in pdf format. 

 

Darkness before the dawn- McKinsey report forecast solar will reach grid-parity with coal and nuclear by 2020 in Europe 

 A new research by the prestigious consultancy firm McKinsey predicts that that global solar capacity will double over the next 3 to 5 years. Due to this large deployment McKinsey concludes that solar PV will likely cost just $1 per watt for a fully installed residential system by 2020.

Europe solar PV capacity in the residential and commercial sector is expected to grow from 85 GW in 2012 to 150 GW by the end of the decade.

The report also highlights that in countries with moderate sunlight but developed markets, like UK, commercial and residential PV installations will be viable between 2012/2013 and beyond. The report is titled Darkness before the dawn and available here
